BACK TO BETHEL

BIBLE TEXT: GENESIS 35:1-7

MEMORY VERSE: "And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went" (GENESIS 35:3).

David Livingstone on consecration said, "God send me anywhere, only go with me. Lay any burden on me, only sustain me. And sever any tie in my heart except the tie that binds my heart to yours." The Christian life calls for entire consecration of one's life to God. Jacob realized this in his life and charged the whole family to do away with any sinful acts or materials for them to go back to Bethel, a place where he once had an unforgettable encounter with God. Believers are to constantly reflect on their past encounters with God and praise God for His faithfulness.

A heavenly minded youth will agree with the song writer, Frances R. Harvegal and say:

"Take my life, and let it be,

Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;

Take my moments and my days,

Let them flow in ceaseless praise."

Dear reader, consecrate your life to Christ, the Lord of your life. Without Him, you can do nothing. Do not be too busy not to have time for God. If you are not yet born again, do that now with all humility.

QUOTE: The Christian life calls for entire consecration.

CHALLENGE: Consecrate all your life to God.

PRAYER: Lord, grant me grace to consecrate my life to You
