THEME: PROVISION THROUGH THANKS.    MEMORISE:  Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God. 2 Corinthians 9:11 READ: John 6:11-13 11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would. 12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. 13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten. MESSAGE: There are many so-called praise songs that are not celebrating the beauty of God’s holiness and are thus unacceptable to the Lord. The sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving can produce abundant prosperity, according to our memory verse today. Let us consider prosperity through the sacrifice of thanks, as we see in ...

TOPIC: MERCY COMES WITH BLESSINGS TEXT: PSALMS 67:1-6 Key Verse: "God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us" (Psalm67:1).        The Judge finally found the worker guilty of stealing his employer's money. He was accused of betraying the trust that his employer had in him. He was to be sentenced to jail for three years.      However, he wept and pleaded with the Judge to consider his three little, helpless children and be merciful to him. He promised that he would pay the stolen money back. The Judge had mercy on him and decided to set the guilty man free.     God is merciful. He forgives sinners, not because they merit it, but because He is a merciful and loving God. The Lord does not only show mercy but He blesses children as well, if they truly repent. It is God's mercy that made Christ to die for us while we were yet sinners. It is mercy that makes Him to totally forgive and overlook our sins when we...

TOPIC: COMFORT FOR THE AFFLICTED TEXT: JOB 11:1-6 KEY VERSE: "Should not the multitude of words be answered? and should a man full of talk be justified?" (JOB 11:2). It is a truism to say that a man of wit and discretion is usually known by his few words. This is because, "In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise" (Proverbs 10:19). Through the opening of the mouth, the fool parades his folly but "He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit. Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise..." (Proverbs 17:27, 28). In the text under consideration, we see Zophar the Naamathite, one of the three friends of Job berating, chiding and blaming him for his calamities; claiming they were the direct result of his sinfulness and unrighteousness. No doubt, all that Zophar said about God and man was perfectly correct. He talks of God's righteousness, unlimited ...

WANTED BACK Read: Judges 11:1-10 [1]Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valour, and he was the son of an harlot: and Gilead begat Jephthah. [2]And Gilead's wife bare him sons; and his wife's sons grew up, and they thrust out Jephthah, and said unto him, Thou shalt not inherit in our father's house; for thou art the son of a strange woman. [3]Then Jephthah fled from his brethren, and dwelt in the land of Tob: and there were gathered vain men to Jephthah, and went out with him. [4]And it came to pass in process of time, that the children of Ammon made war against Israel. [5]And it was so, that when the children of Ammon made war against Israel, the elders of Gilead went to fetch Jephthah out of the land of Tob: [6]And they said unto Jephthah, Come, and be our captain, that we may fight with the children of Ammon. [7]And Jephthah said unto the elders of Gilead, Did not ye hate me, and expel me out of my father's house? and why are ye come unto me now when ye are...

Topic: Custodians Of Eternal Blessings Scripture: …I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing (Genesis 12:2). Message: The Christian is blessed in all things. He’s blessed with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. In Genesis 12:2, God didn’t say to Abraham, “I will bless you and make you ‘lucky’”; rather, He said, “…I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing.” This is what you need: the consciousness that you’re blessed and are a blessing! You’re empowered to be successful; the ability to prosper in all things has been invoked in your life; it’s inherent in you and works all the time. Everywhere you go, there’s favour. Your steps are always ordered of the Lord; you don’t go anywhere by chance, and you don’t go anywhere alone, for He’s in you and with you always. This is the heritage of the seed of Abraham. It worked for the physical descendants of Abraham— Is...

Topic: Ephesus: The Loveless Church(2) Fire Scripture Rev. 2: 1 -7 Memory verse Luke 15: 18-19 -I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, and am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servant. Outline This first letter to the Ephesians Church reveals some things about and the city of Ephesus itself. We learnt all these yesterday. The city of Ephesus had the temple of Diana, which was one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. It was believed that Diana blesses her worshippers immensely. Hence, they recognised her as the goddess of prosperity. She was also the goddess of prostitutes that were ready to attend to anybody in the temple. Criminals who ran into the temple were considered to have escaped from punishment. Hence, immorality and crime were the order of the day. Imagine what that society would be like – a suffocating and sinful environment. The church and believers must do eve...

TOPIC: THE LAW OF THE SABBATH MEMORISE Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Exodus 20:8  READ: Genesis 2:1-3  Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. MESSAGE: The law of the Sabbath is not an end in itself but a means to an end and that is rest.  Rest is a divine blessing which God bestowed upon His creation, particularly mankind.  Even the land He gave man to inhabit must enjoy a sabbatical rest (Leviticus 25:2).  And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made Genesis 2:2. Rest is not just a commandment from God, but also an act of divine benevolence.  Exodus 20:8-11says:  Re...

TOPIC: DON'T BRING ABOMINATION TO YOUR HOUSE Read: Deuteronomy 7:25-26 [25]The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God. [26]Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing. MEMORISE: But the Israelites were unfaithful in regard to the devoted things; Achan son of Karmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of them. So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel. (Joshua 7:1). EXPOSITION We have heard of illegal duty, money, wife, occupation of a house, land, possession of firearms, etc. all of which attract punishments under the law. But the most illegal, heinous crime a man can commit is bringing idols to His house and serving them. That is why Exodus 2...

TOPIC: UNDER SIEGE FOR INIQUITY TEXT: Ezekiel 4:1-8 KEY VERSE: “And, behold, I will lay bands upon thee, and thou shalt not turn thee from one side to another, till thou hast ended the days of thy siege.” - (Ezekiel 4:8) The word “D-day” is a military operation code used in warfare to indicate the date when a secret and surprising military operation or attack is set or bound to take place. Historically, it was formed from the name given to June 6, 1944, the day the British, US and other armies landed on the beaches of Normandy in Northern France, during the Second World War and routed the German Forces. A D-day for God’s judgment against Jerusalem for their iniquity was also proclaimed in the day of Prophet Ezekiel. He was instructed to lay siege against the city, build a fort against it, cast a mount against it, and set a camp and battering rams against it. He was also to lie on his left and right sides for the iniquity of the house of Israel for forty days. Each day was to represent ...

TOPIC: GOD HATES EVIL DOINGS TEXT: HABAKKUK 1:12,13 Key Verse: "Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity" (Habakkuk 1:13a). No one likes looking at filth. Some things are too dirty to look at. It is very irritating to look at dirty and offensive things. There are some things that are so filthy that you have to quickly turn your eyes away from, if you mistakenly see them. If it is like that with ordinary human beings, how much more with God whose eyes are too pure to behold iniquity? Our Bible passage reveals that God is holy and so pure that He cannot behold evil. God is very concerned with the world because it is filled with much bloodshed, immorality, hatred, pride and ungodliness. We have made our world offensive to a righteous God. God sees our innermost thoughts and knows all that we do. We should not continue to do bad things which will make Him to totally turn His back on us.  God saw iniquity and idolatry among His people, Israel, and...

TOPIC: He’s Got You Covered SCRIPTURE: Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations (Jeremiah 1:5).  Message: There’re those who are hesitant to let God have His way in their lives. They think He’ll change their “lofty” dreams and ambitions. They’ve painted the picture of what they want in life and the direction they want to go, and they think if they let God have His way, He may change their destiny and lead them to become something they don’t want to be. That’s a terrible mistake. The Lord knows better and loves you more than you love yourself. Therefore, trust Him with your life. He’s more ambitious for your success than you could ever be. All He’s ever wanted is the best for you. What joy thrilled my soul when I discovered that the Lord was more ambitious for my success than I could ever be, and that He loved and cared for me more than I could ever imagine! He create...

Topic: The Dangers Of Incomplete Deliverance Fire Scripture Matthew 12: 43-45 Memory verse John 8:32 – And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.  Outline Today’s devotional will highlight why many believers are still languishing in the lowest ebb of their ladder of destiny and why many high fliers have been converted to beggars. According to Matthew 12:43-45, many believers’ situations become worse after an attempt in deliverance, and this is due largely to going back to sin. Many hide their sins before Jesus Christ; they are like a sick person who refuses to tell a physician what his problems really are. Your ability to be honest and transparent before your doctor will fast track your recovery. This is true about deliverance. Many counsellors have been led astray by counselees who are not willing to be truthful. Many years ago as a young believer, a young lady was brought by her mother for prayer but unknown to her mother she was suffering from complica...

THEME: THE GOD OF ABUNDANCE.    MEMORISE: And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. Genesis 1:22 READ: Genesis 1:20-23 20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. 21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. 23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day. MESSAGE: Our God is not just the God of creation, He is also the God of abundance. When God creates, He does not do so sparingly. He is still in the business of creation, according to John 5:17 which says: “……My Father worketh hitherto, and ...

TOPIC: JESUS LOVES YOU! TEXT: MARK 9:36-42 Key Verse: "And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea" (Mark 9:42). It is wonderful to know that our Lord Jesus Christ loves us and we are precious to Him. You may look small and little in size, but if you are born again, you are of great value to the Almighty God. Our God is interested in the lives of His children, even to the smallest or youngest child. He is ready to fight all our battles, defend us and crush all our enemies. God declares, "For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee" (Isaiah 43:3). Satan and his agents should beware! Sometimes, God's people, particularly little children, tend to feel fearful, lonely and helpless when passing through some challenges and difficulties. Instead of looking at the problems,...

TOPIC: GRIEVING FOR SINNERS TEXT: Ezra 10:6-8 KEY VERSE: “Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor drink water: for he mourned because of the transgression of them that had been carried away.” - (Ezra 10:6) A preacher once said, “I do not come into this pulpit hoping that perhaps somebody will of his own free will return to Christ. My hope lies in another quarter. I hope that my Master will lay hold of some of you and say you are mine, and you shall be mine, I claim you for myself. My hope arises from the freeness of grace and not from the freedom of will”.  The children of Judah, while in exile and captivity, had mixed with the people of the land. They had intermarried and copied their customs, contrary to God’s commandment. Many of them, including the nobles returned to Jerusalem with strange wives and children. Ezra was greatly troubled and mourned for their...

Topic: Caring With A Godly Heart (I) Fire Scripture Deut. 15: 7-15 Memory verse Gal. 6:9 – And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Outline Caring is a Christian virtue and practical living that stems from a compassionate and loving heart. God is love and everyone that claims to be His children must love and care for their fellow Christians as well as those outside the fold. Right from the time of Adam, God had shown that He cares. He had to take Moses through a humbling experience in order to prepare Him for the divine assignment of leading His people out of bondage in Egypt. He was shepherding the flock of Jethro in the Midian desert. There he met with the Lord (Exodus 3:1-3). Unknown to him, it was part of the divine package to help him develop a caring heart towards the “stiff-necked” Israelites, his own brethren. Each time they were in need, he cried unto God in prayer for provisions and responses came from heaven to prove the f...

THEME: WHERE ARE YOU?    MEMORISE: And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? Genesis 3:9 READ: 2 Corinthians 13:5-8  5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates? 6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates. 7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates. 8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth. MESSAGE: I am convinced that the question God asked of Adam long ago- “Where art thou?” (Genesis 3:9) is as relevant today as it was then. It is not a question that an individual should wait for God to ask him and her, but rather one that each person should ask him of herself at any given time. A sincere approach to answering this question would do one a world of good, both in this life and eternity. From t...

TOPIC: THE SUN STANDS STILL TEXT: JOSHUA 10:6-13 Key Verse: "And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies" (Joshua 10:13a). The sun and the moon are two different planets that move at different times. The sun is meant to shine throughout the day. This is to give light to the whole world. At an appointed time, the sun will set and the moon will come forth to rule the night. This is how it has been right from creation. It will be very strange to see the sun rising at night or the moon coming up during the day. God has so arranged it that they do not clash because they have their various functions.  In our text, something significant and miraculous happened. A man asked God to stop the sun from setting, and God answered! It was awesome, great and wonderful. God is still answering prayers of His people today.  God can do all things. He has the power to change the course of nature to achieve His divine purpose in the life...
