TOPIC:

KEYS TO ANSWERED PRAYER (IV)

MEMORISE

Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour (Matthew 15:28).

READ:

Hebrews 11:1-6

[1]. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

[2]. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.

[3]. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

[4]. By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.

[5]. By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

[6]. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

EXPOSITION

To stop praying amiss; pray in faith. Many people praying are doubting Thomases. Their long hours of prayer are irrelevant because everything they have struggled for in prayer is destroyed with just a moment of doubt. Unbelief is dangerous. One spectacular thing about Hannah's prayer is her lack of doubt (1 Sam. 1:18). God answers prayers, not you. Why then do you worry and doubt? It is up to you to pray: God decides the outcome. Faith is a very important key to answered prayers (Matt. 15:28). You must believe in God unto whom you pray, and don't doubt. The Bible confirms this: _But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways_ (Jas. 1:6-8).

There are many theories as to why Cain's sacrifice was rejected while his brother's was accepted. But lack of faith is the factual one among them. The Scripture makes us know this: _By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain..._ (Heb. 11:4). The rest is story. Do you know that it is not possible to please God without faith (Read Heb. 11:6)? Begin to exercise faith in your prayers to land powerful and wonderful answers like the woman in our memory Scripture, who despite being a Canaanite woman, demonstrated a wonderful faith that Jesus Himself commended (Matt. 15:21).
