HIGHER EVERYDAY MONDAY AUGUST 16, 2021
TOPIC: SHORT TERM MEMORY
TEXT: 1 TIMOTHY 4:14-16
MEMORY VERSE: "Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine" (1 TIMOTHY 4:13).
Short term memory is the capacity to hold a small amount of information in mind for a short period of time. For instance, a short term memory can be used to recall a formula you have just memorised.
Memory cards have different storage capacities; the bigger the gigabytes, the larger the amount of information it can store. You can develop your memory capacity to be able to store up a large sequence of information like a high capacity memory card.
To do this, you must use memory development techniques such as the use of mnemonic devices for assisting the memory, i.e. acronyms formed from a formula.
Information can be stored in short term memory by repeating it verbally. Short term memory holds information for a very brief period of time; so, information in the short term memory has to be rehearsed for it to stay longer.
As a student, you have to memorise those essential formulae, ideas or concepts in your subjects so that you can store them in long term memory. Give attention to reading, meditation and continuous verbal repetition so you do not forget.
QUOTE: Develop your memory capacity.
CHALLENGE: Continuous rehearsal will enhance your memory.
PRAYER: Help me Lord, to always recall whatever I read.
