TOPIC:- World Humanitarian Day

HELP IS ON THE WAY!

Read: Psalms 46:1-11

[1](To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth.) God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

[2]Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

[3]Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

[4]There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

[5]God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

[6]The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

[7]The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

[8]Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth.

[9]He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

[10]Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

[11]The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

MEMORISE: God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. (Psalms 46:1).

EXPOSITION

The Psalmist, under inspiration, saw far ahead what the future holds, part of which is that there would be fearful events and such turbulence that would cause fear for the true believer and all mankind. Of a truth, there have been various national upheavals, tribal disagreements, leadership tussles, global warnings, ozone layer agitations, political instabilities of do or die, needless wars and bloodsheds, unending lack and loss of jobs, lowering morale, loss of faith, etc.

In all these, God is our hiding place, strength and sustaining present help. He is forever our present help because He is the omnipresent. That He is present connotes the idea of being there endlessly. It is an eternally continuous thing. Today's text assures that God, in today, which is world Humanitarian Day, is not silent::

● a hostile, aggressive world that has consistently rejected the Gospel of Jesus Christ, holiness, and peace (line 2);

● a noisy earthly system of roaring waters and haughty mountains of proud men and ideologies that opposes truth and righteousness (line 3, cf.2 Cor.10v4,5),

● the rage of murderous kings and nations that are anti-God, anti-christ and anti-church, i.e. Babylon, the mother of all harlots and abominations on the earth (line 6, Rev.17v1-5ff), and

● the noise of the drums of wars. He will cause desolation in the camp of the enemy and break to pieces (render ineffective)all their weapons of disrespect against the Most High God (line 8-10).

He is in His holy Temple! He indwells His people in power and irrefutablely great glory! He will confirm and comfort His people. He will put a complete stop to all the threats of the Enemy-Avenger (lines 4-7,11).

Surely, help is on the way for us today. Praise the Lord!

PRAYER POINTS

1. Thank God for the help He has sent from heaven to all His saints.

2. Ask God to reveal those He has sent to you for your deliverance and comfort. Pray that you would also be sent to someone.

3. Pray for those waiting on the Lord for His intervention in their seemingly hopeless situations, that He would bail them out, as He never shatter the hope of His people.
