OVERCOMING FORGETFULNESS
BIBLE TEXT: ISAIAH 49:13-16
MEMORY VERSE: "Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee" (ISAIAH 49:15).
Amira, a high school student, testified that her ability to read and recall what she read had greatly improved. She even attempted answering questions without having to carry her notebook, and she never missed an answer to a question anymore. This happened because she used some techniques to help herself recall and memorise concepts.
Forgetfulness is a temporary loss of details, stimuli and record that have been learnt. The human brain can be likened to a video camera that can record everything a person experiences. The best way to overcome forgetfulness and remember things is to write down ideas or points in a notepad. A Chinese proverb says, "The faintest pen is sharper than the sharpest brain." This is why it is always good to jot down points as you read and rehearse them repeatedly. Another method is to use a linking technique by associating a concept with another known concept through a mental image. By linking together mental images, you can store large amounts of information because memory works by association. Pray and apply these methods for a better memory.
QUOTE: Memory works by association.
CHALLENGE: You can overcome forgetfulness.
PRAYER: Plant in me a sharp retentive memory, Oh Lord.
