PERSISTENT PAUL

TEXT: ACTS 20:17-24

MEMORY VERSE: "But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God" (ACTS 20:24).

According to Calvin Coolidge, "Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent." If Apostle Paul greatly succeeded in his ministry and drive to spread the Word of God, it was largely due to his ability to combine his determination with persistence and zeal. He was ready at all times to sacrifice his life for the sake of the gospel and perishing souls.

Persistence is undeniably one of the admirable character qualities a believer can possess. It is the ability to achieve something regardless of all hindrances, because no great achievement is possible without persistent work. You can only succeed in your spiritual life and accomplish the Great Commission by making persistence a distinguishing attribute in your ministry. You must not quit in the middle of your divine journey due to hardship, discomfort and uncertainty, but move persistently towards your spiritual goals.

QUOTE: You must not quit.

CHALLENGE: Persistence coupled with determination will lead to success.

PRAYER: Dear God, imbue me with Paul's spirit of persistence.
